Dr. Kannan named Georgia Cancer Coalition Distinguished Cancer Scholar

The Georgia Cancer Coalition (GCC) has named Dr. Kannan a Distinguished Cancer Scholar. This award is given by GCC to clinicians and scientists who are engaged in the most promising areas of cancer research in the state of Georgia.
NESCent selects Eric Talevich for Summer of Code 2009

Eric Talevich's project proposal for the upcoming Google Summer of Code has been accepted, under the umbrella of the National Evolutionary Synthesis Center. Eric will be building a parser and object representation for the emerging phyloXML format for phylogenetic trees, integrating with the Biopython toolkit. Amar Mirza wins the CURO Summer Research Fellowship

Amar Mirza has been awarded a Summer Research Fellowship through the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities at UGA. This fellowship will allow Amar to continue studying the structure of mutated tyrosine kinases over this summer and present his work at the next annual statewide CURO symposium. Congratulations, Amar!
New article published in JBC

An article on the life cycle of protein kinase C (PKC) is featured as "paper of the week" in the current edition of the Journal of Biological Chemistry. Dr. Kannan collaborated with the Newton lab at UCSD on this project.
